Murray and Burgess

Ro Murray and Mandy Burgess

About, Bio & CV

Ro Murray and Mandy Burgess are the creative partnership Murray and Burgess. They are both National Art School honours graduates after careers as architects. Since starting their collaboration in 2015, they have had three solo exhibitions and have been selected to exhibit in many sculpture festivals and prizes. Their large-scale installation work uses salvaged and low-tech materials such as hessian and plaster, timber and canvas, fabric and found steel. Using explorations of the sculptural and poetic possibilities of these materials, they address timely issues of environmental degradation, climate change and treatment of refugees. A highlight is to have been selected to have a solo exhibition in 2022 at the regional gallery Blue Mountains Cultural Centre.

Murray and Burgess have their studio in Mt Victoria in the Blue Mountains.
Both artists maintain separate art practices.

Murray and Burgess acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and support the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
